Welcoming Ryan Monroe: Nature lover, Seahawks fan, and healthcare advocate

Meet our newest team member, Ryan Monroe, whose remarkable journey from well-traveled Naval Officer to business owner brings a rich blend of experience and a unique perspective to World Telehealth Initiative.

Ryan hails from Spokane, Washington, where he lives with his wife Genevieve and two kids. He graduated from Westmont College in Santa Barbara and showcased his talents on the basketball team. His post-college adventures led him to live in Costa Rica with a local family, where he embraced the culture despite contacting dengue fever. When he came back to the United States, he traveled extensively as a Naval officer, including living in Bahrain in the Middle East.

Following his military service, Ryan transitioned to the business world, serving as the Director of Operations for a distribution company in Santa Barbara for eight years. He was then inspired to start his own business with his wife, which they have run together for the past eight years.

Ryan's decision to join World Telehealth Initiative (WTI) stems from a deep-seated commitment to making a positive impact globally. “Having been fortunate enough to travel to different parts of the world, I became keenly aware of the disparity between the health services we have in the United States compared to other places.” He was drawn to World Telehealth Initiative's work expanding healthcare access globally and focus on innovation.

In his role at WTI, Ryan leads Finances, Human Resources, and Operations. “I love the opportunity to solve new challenges every day, knowing that I’m helping support the team who is making great things happen.”

“Since joining World Telehealth Initiative, I’ve been surprised at the sizeable impact a small number of people can make. Our mighty team of approximately 10 people (with the support of 1,400 volunteer healthcare providers) can create positive, lasting change, in places all around the world, daily…and that’s pretty cool.”

If you know Ryan, you know he is a dedicated fan of the Seattle Seahawks and loves nature. On the weekend you can find him skiing and camping with his family or learning everything there is to know about trees.

As we welcome Ryan Monroe, we are grateful for his multitude of talents and joyful presence. He has already made a wonderful addition to our team with his unwavering dedication and willingness to take on any challenge.
