Babji P. Mesipam, M.D. is a highly respected physician with over 30 years of experience in internal medicine, dedicated to patient care and medical education.
Since 1995, he has led a successful private practice in internal medicine. He has also served as an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Keck School of Medicine of USC since 2006. At Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, Dr. Mesipam has held key leadership roles, including Chief Medical Quality Officer (since 2014), Chief of Staff, Vice Chief of Staff, Secretary/Treasurer of the Medical Staff, and Chairman of the Department of Internal Medicine.
He serves on the Board of Directors for Santa Barbara Health Preferred Partners, the Rehabilitation Institute of Santa Barbara, and Raggedy Anne. Additionally, he co-directed the Sub Acute Unit at Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital.
Dr. Mesipam earned a Bachelor of Science in Zoology from Andhra University in India, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Doctor of Medicine from Loma Linda University School of Medicine. He completed his postgraduate training at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.
Recognized for his contributions to healthcare, Dr. Mesipam was named Physician of the Year by the Rehabilitation Institute of Santa Barbara in 2002. He is a member of the American Medical Association and the American College of Physicians, with research interests in chronic bronchitis and community-acquired pneumonia.
