Healing Across Continents: Henriette's Journey from Crisis to Recovery in Togo

A single mother, Henriette had been suffering for weeks from severe abdominal pain. Despite seeing several clinicians in Togo, her condition deteriorated rapidly. Her daughter frantically called El Elyon Hospital and begged them to help for fear her mother would die without care, leaving the family destitute and in poverty.

The founder of El Elyon Hospital, Dr. Komi Folly, grew up in Togo and understands their healthcare challenges. He currently lives in Oklahoma as an internal medicine physician. He and numerous colleagues across the globe now support El Elyon clinicians through the World Telehealth Initiative program.

Dr. Folly examined Henriette via telehealth with an onsite clinician and recognized signs of a perforated bowel. This is a life-threatening condition that requires immediate surgery. With the correct diagnosis, Henriette was rushed to the operating room for a successful 12-hour surgery, where surgeons removed a large mass that perforated her bowel.

After surgery, Henriette made a steady recovery and is happy to be home with her family. Thanks to your partnership, patients like Henriette receive access to life-saving medical expertise when and where they need it.
