This September, our Executive Director, Sharon Allen was appointed to the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Digital Health Technical Advisory Group and Roster of Experts.

The Advisory Group and Roster will serve as part of WHO’s new Department of Digital Health. As reported by WHO, this Advisory Group was created to fully utilize the fast-growing technology of digital health in order spread quality healthcare globally. This program is also an effort by WHO to reach ‘Sustainable Development Goal 3: Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages’, as outlined by the United Nations.

According to WHO, Allen and the rest of the Roster are “experts with an outstanding record of achievements in their own field” (WHO). Allen has established this ‘outstanding record’ in the field of telehealth by co-founding and leading World Telehealth Initiative, and by developing a model to deliver quality healthcare to those in need globally.

WTI is unique in that we leverage philanthropic telehealth worldwide to provide healthcare access at no cost for those who cannot afford it. Allen will bring a unique perspective to the Roster of Experts because of her background in both the corporate and nonprofit worlds.
