Celebrating a visionary: Dr. Yulun Wang's journey of social impact

Dr. Yulun Wang, our esteemed Co-founder and Executive Chairman, recently shared his journey at the Sustainable Change Alliance event, highlighting the transformative power of technology and virtual care. His pioneering work has revolutionized healthcare delivery and expanded access to critical care globally.

Throughout his illustrious career, Dr. Wang has consistently pioneered new developments in medical technology to build a healthier world. His early work in robotic surgery, including the creation of the first FDA-approved robotic device for surgery, and the ZEUS robotic surgical system, which performed the world's first remote surgery, set new standards in surgical precision and showcased the potential of remote procedures.

Recognizing the broader potential of virtual care, Dr. Wang founded InTouch Health in 2003 (now Teladoc Health), transforming the company into a global leader in telehealth and demonstrating that distance need not compromise the quality of patient care.

 As telehealth proved to have significant impact in higher-income settings, Yulun recognized that those who would benefit the most—individuals in low-resource communities—lacked access to this technology. Driven by a deep commitment to making quality healthcare more accessible in underserved communities, he co-founded the World Telehealth Initiative (WTI) in 2017. WTI has now expanded healthcare access in 18 countries worldwide through global collaboration and innovation, bringing care to those who need it most. His work with WTI exemplifies how a successful career can be transformed into one of profound significance, impacting lives and communities around the world.

Continuing his mission to expand access to advanced medical care, Dr. Wang recently co-founded Sovato Health to make telesurgery more accessible. His dedication to leveraging technology to address global healthcare disparities is a testament to his unwavering commitment to transforming global healthcare.
