Team Spotlight: Summer Intern Maisie Zimmerman
“I am so happy to be a part of the WTI team because it is an honor being surround by likeminded people who are champions for the underserved. I am inspired by the work that WTI has already achieved, and even more excited about it’s future. The sky’s the limit!”- Maisie Zimmerman
This summer we are thrilled to have Maisie Zimmerman as our first ever WTI intern. Maisie is a Santa Barbara native looking to make a difference in the world of public health. She is a rising senior at New York University, double majoring in Global Public Health and Sociology. She is most passionate about helping undeserved and marginalize populations in the U.S. and internationally.
As an intern at WTI, she has been a huge help with many of our projects. Maisie was a valuable collaborator in the process of writing our first grant application. She worked tirelessly with our WTI team in hopes of receiving a grant to fund our nonprofit, as well as expand our veins of medical support to more and more of the underserved and resource-poor communities requesting our help. Maisie also contributes to the blog posts on our website, and runs all of our social media accounts thus far.
Maisie is excited to be a part of the WTI team as we make some of our biggest strives yet. She is especially passionate about our telehealth program in Malawi that is focused on fistula care because of her interest in women’s health and empowerment. We love having her on our WTI team and we are excited to see what she will accomplish in the future!
