New Intern Laurelle Tarleton Joins the WTI Team
Laurelle started working for World Telehealth Initiative at the InTouch Telehealth Innovation Forum this July, and since has been assisting Executive Director Sharon Allen. She is a recent graduate from the University of Denver with a BA in International Studies and a concentration in International Development and Health.
Native to Santa Barbara, Laurelle returned home from Denver this summer and has been enjoying her work with WTI. She is training doctors on how to use the telehealth technology, grant writing, and working on our social media. While working at WTI, Laurelle hopes to learn more about how non-profits are run, meet new people, and make cross-cultural connections.
One program that Laurelle is particularly excited about is our virtual care clinics in Bangladesh. She shares that: “I learned a lot about vulnerable populations such as the Rohingya during my time in college, and always wanted to help them, but didn’t know how. Helping refugees gain better access to healthcare is putting the knowledge that I gained in college to use in such a positive way that I only dreamed of as a student. ”
