Donor’s Corner with Scott Emrick
We are pleased to feature Scott Emrick, a donor from New York who has set up a monthly donation to support World Telehealth Initiative. Scott shared that he was drawn to WTI's core tenet of providing healthcare for so many that don't have access to the quality care that we take for granted sometimes in the United States. After sharing WTI's mission with some physicians in his network who wanted to volunteer, Scott said that their willingness to give their time to help those in need was contagious, and it inspired him to set up the monthly donation.
According to Scott, leveraging state-of-the-art telehealth technology to help those in need globally is what sets WTI apart from other international healthcare nonprofits. It allows physician volunteers to share their expertise safely from the comfort of their own homes. "I've never heard of another organization doing anything like this".
As an Account Executive at Teladoc Health, Scott has firsthand experience with the telehealth technology we utilize. Scott emphasized that the telehealth technology is much more than just video conferencing. It is highly advanced technology that allows for more knowledge and information about the patient to be available to the remote physician, so that they can do a complete virtual exam as if they were right there with the patient. This creates an optimal experience for the volunteer physician providing their expertise, the on-site clinician, and the patients receiving care.
Thank you so much Scott, for your generosity and for joining us in our mission to expand access to healthcare for those who need it most.
