Giving Tuesday - Bring Life Saving Surgery to Trauma Patients in Malawi
GIVE THE GIFT OF HEALTH
In celebration of Giving Tuesday, a global giving movement, we are launching a new program that will bring quality surgical care to trauma patients in Malawi. Through surgical mentoring, our program will sustainably strengthen Malawian health systems for years to come. Make an impact this holiday season by providing life-saving surgery to trauma patients in Lilongwe, Malawi.
Help us reach our goal of $20,000 to fund the program!
How your donation makes an impact:
$60 – Provides healthcare services to approximately 20 patients
$200 – Covers training and support to develop an onsite coordinator for project management
$1,000 – Cost to train and provide ongoing support for 5 volunteer trauma surgeons
$4,000 – Ongoing yearly operational cost for the trauma surgery program
WHY MALAWI?
In the United States, we are fortunate to have a doctor to population ratio of 1 : 400, but in Malawi, the ratio is 1 : 60,000. In sub-Saharan African countries like Malawi, trauma is the leading cause of preventable death in people under 45 years old (World Journal of Surgery). Malawi also has one of the highest rates of road traffic mortality in the world. (Malawi Medical Journal). We are working to change that by providing surgical mentoring and trauma surgery expertise to Kamuzu Central Hospital in Lilongwe, Malawi.
But we need your help! Please donate today.
